Answers to the most common questions about the app.
How much does 12 Challenges cost?
The core features are free forever: full tracking, iCloud sync and the home screen widget, with no subscription, no ads and no account. An optional one-time Pro upgrade unlocks the Apple Watch app, statistics and the full archive.
Where is my data stored?
By default, exclusively on your iPhone. There are no servers, no accounts, no tracking and no sharing with third parties. If you turn on iCloud sync, syncing between your devices runs through your own private iCloud storage at Apple. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I get my data onto a new iPhone?
Easiest with iCloud sync: turn it on once in the app's settings and your challenges are automatically available on all your devices. Without iCloud sync, your data still moves with you automatically if you set up the new iPhone the way Apple intends: via direct device-to-device transfer or by restoring an iCloud or computer backup. In that case, just reinstalling the app is not enough: without a backup restore it starts empty.
Can I export my data?
There is currently no data export. Deleting, however, is always possible: in the app’s settings under “Delete All Data”, or by uninstalling the app.
When does a challenge count as achieved?
At 85% of the days; for a 30-day challenge that’s 26. A few missed days won’t cost you the month. If you check off every day of a full challenge, it counts as a perfect month. Below the threshold the challenge ends as “ended” and moves to the archive.
I forgot to check in yesterday. Can I still do it?
Yes. Today and yesterday can still be changed; older days are locked. A missed day doesn’t end anything either: thanks to the 85% threshold you can miss up to four days out of 30. Only your streak restarts from zero after a real gap, and No Exceptions mode plays by stricter rules.
What exactly does No Exceptions mode do?
In No Exceptions mode a challenge only counts as achieved at 100%: every single day matters. As soon as a missed day is confirmed, meaning its edit window has closed, the challenge ends immediately. For everyone who wants to switch off the safety nets on purpose.
How do I set up the widget?
Long-press your Home Screen, tap “+” and choose 12 Challenges. Use “Edit Widget” (long-press the widget) to pick which challenge it shows. You can check in right from the widget without opening the app. There is also a Control Center control: customize Control Center, tap “Add a Control” and choose 12 Challenges.
What reminders are there?
A daily reminder at a time of your choice (8 PM by default), optionally with a custom time per challenge. On top of that: a more urgent warning if you skipped yesterday, a final-day nudge, and a reminder on the 28th to plan your next challenge. Each one can be turned off individually.
What happens when the 30 days are over?
You get a monthly review with final status and streak, stored in the archive. If things are going well, you continue the challenge right away, and your streak carries on seamlessly.
