Data controller

See the legal notice for the identity and contact details of the party responsible for data processing under GDPR.

The app: no servers, no accounts

12 Challenges stores all data exclusively on your device by default. There are no servers of our own and no accounts. You can optionally turn on iCloud sync, see below.

What's stored on your device

  • Your challenges and daily entries
  • Settings and appearance
  • Unlocked achievements

What does not happen

  • No analytics or tracking services
  • No sharing with third parties
  • No advertising
  • No account required

iCloud sync (optional)

If you turn on iCloud sync in the app's settings, your challenge data is synced between your own devices through your private iCloud storage (CloudKit). Apple is responsible for this processing; we ourselves have no access to the synced data. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details. iCloud sync is off by default and entirely optional.

In-app purchases (if available)

If the app offers in-app purchases, payment data is processed exclusively by Apple (StoreKit). 12 Challenges itself never receives or stores payment information.

Deleting your data

You can permanently remove all stored data at any time via "Delete all data" in the app's settings, or by uninstalling the app.

This website: hosting

This website is served via GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, part of Microsoft). When you visit this site, GitHub as the hosting provider automatically processes technical access data (e.g. IP address, time of access, file requested) in server logs, as is technically necessary to deliver any website. This may involve servers located in the US. Details are available in GitHub's Privacy Statement.

We ourselves set no cookies on this website and embed no analytics, tracking, or advertising services. No fonts, scripts, or content are loaded from third-party CDNs.

Google Search Console

We use Google Search Console (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) to see how this website appears in Google Search, for example search queries, clicks, impressions, position, and the indexing status of individual pages.

Search Console does not load any scripts, cookies, or tracking pixels on this website itself. The data it shows comes exclusively from Google Search, i.e. from how Google crawls and displays our pages in search results, not from the behavior of individual visitors on the website. Verifying our domain with Google is done via a DNS record and does not trigger any data processing on your device.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in analyzing and improving our website's visibility in search engines). More information is available in Google's Privacy Policy.

Your rights

As a data subject you have the usual rights under the GDPR: access to the data stored about you (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21), for example against the use of Google Search Console described above.

Since 12 Challenges stores all app data exclusively on your own device and we have no access to it ourselves, these rights mainly concern the small amount of data processed in connection with running the website. To exercise your rights or with any questions, an email to the address listed in the legal notice is enough.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one responsible for your place of residence.
